Information about the Double-Crested Cormorant:
The Double-Crested Cormorant is a seabird of the order
Pelecaniformes. They can be found along inland waterways,
rivers, lakes and coastlines. They are widely distributed
throughout North America. Like all cormorants these birds
hunt for fish - usually alone but at time with others -
submerging and hunting with jerky movements chasing fish,
which make up the majority of the cormorants prey. These
birds were once threatened by the use of DDT, but are making
a comeback now that the chemical was banned.
