Information about the American Redstart:
The American Redstart is a New World warbler. They are
migratory birds who winter in Central America and northern
South America. The Redstarts are considered a 'neotropical'
which means they breed north of, and winter south of, the
Tropic of Cancer. The bird derives its name from the male's
red tail, start being an old word for tail.
The American Redstart is average sized songbird. These
birds nest in a low area of a bush or tree, where they lay
2-5 eggs. American Redstarts feed on insects.
