The drawing is based on a photo by Hugh J McLaughlin. I think the grace and beauty of these remarkable birds is one of the true wonders of the natural world.
| Information about the Japanese Crane:The Japanese Crane, also known as the Red-crowned Crane or Manchurian Crane is the second most rare crane in the world with an estimated population of around 1,500. This large bird's habitat is marshes and swamps, but can also be found in open farmland and rice field where is performs an amazing dance.
