Artist's notes:
This
was the first tarantula (and spider) I had ever drawn. While
I think it's a good drawing, the fact is that it was a little
tricky to drawn, as the fine hairs of the tarantula's leg
tend to clump together if you're not careful. The coloration
of this arachnid is amazing and it overall was a lot of
fun to draw.

Information about the Mexican Red-Kneed
Tarantula:
The Mexican Red-knee tarantula lives in
the western portion of the Pacific Sierra Madre mountains
of Mexico. They do not live in deserts, as has been previously
been stated in books, but rather in scrub forests where
the forest floor is shady and the environment fairly humid.
Because the redknee is fairly a docile species of spider
is it considered a good pet for people who enjoy keeping
tarantulas.
