Artist's notes:

black rhino thumb This is another of my earlier drawings, both as an ink illustration and with the digital tinting. Looking at it now, I think it could stand a touch up and maybe even a complete 'redo' as I have recently done with the white rhino. The grass looks a little flat to me and the rhino's feet don't blend well either, but the actual rendering of the rhino itself is decent.

UPDATE: 11/13/08 - I touched up the grass and blended the feet some more. Looks a little better I think.

Information about the Black Rhinoceros:

Black rhinos are native to the eastern and central parts of Africa. There are four subspecies of black rhino. Rhinos are solitary animals who generally only come together to mate. A black rhino's eyesight is very poor, and although they will attack they will do so only when they feel threatened.
